Haven-Temple, Sanctuary, plus

The creation of Haven Temple

The building the temple is now in, was once a building with a couple of walls, a roof, and a dirt floor. When we bought the property it was a fixer-upper. My husband Mike turned the place around with his many skills. At Mikes hand, the building got a floor, walls, doors, and windows and became a wood shop.  It was the place Mike built. One of the things Mike wanted for the place was a large Pentacle painted on the floor and a name for the place. He was a patient man and put up with my taking in folks who needed help. This trait came from my mom, she did this too. There was always someone extra around. They would not stay long but there was always food and a safe place to sleep.

My son was a homeless person and struggled with many things. Mom passed away in 2010 and my son in 2016. Sadly Mike too passed away June of 2024. The wood shop now empty and still, the universe, who dislikes an empty space decided to fill this empty space. The next thing I know a pagan handyman by the name of Harold,  needed a safe space. I needed a handyman and the next thing I know, the space is becoming a temple. I asked Harold to paint a large pentacle on the floor to honor Mikes dream.

Later in a conversation with Harold, I decided to name the place Haven. Over the years there have been a number of people that have come to live with us. Each have needed a space to grow and heal and we freely gave what we could. We have taken in a 16 yr o;d girl, then there was a young trans person who was troubled and lost. These two have since become family/. Then there were two LBGTQ girls that were homeless we bought a small bus for them they lived in for a while. Later came my best friend after her divorce. Since then we have housed Harold and a 22 yr old gay man. Each was looking for a haven, a sanctuary, so the place was named Haven, and the wood shop is now the temple. Now thanks to Harold’s help, there is an extra room if anyone has an emergency in addition to the camper.

Haven is available for any of the marginalized or targeted and those who are not safe, especially the pagan and the LBGTQ plus communities.

Haven also has a coven and an active local pagan community that helps support its charity work. You can find Haven Temple on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569030957576
